A court application by a body of Christian groups calling for an end to the religious certification of food had the potential to cause unnecessary tension between religious groups. That was the word from advocate Imraan Vawda, representing the United Ulema Council of South Africa (Uucsa), who will now seek to oppose this application on behalf of the broader Muslim community.

“The parable of those who spend their property in the way of Allah is as the parable of a grain growing seven ears (with) a hundred grains in every ear; and Allah multiplies for whom He pleases; and Allah is Ample-giving, All Knowing” (2:261)
It has been established that the Prophet Muhammad’s (P.B.U.H) mosque, Masjidun Nabawiy served as the seat of government, a prison, court of law, the treasury, a welfare centre and in general served as platform for the regulation of the affairs of the Muslim community.
